MHG is located in Montgomery Village, Maryland and provides Civil Engineering, Surveying, Landscape Architecture and Land Planning services throughout Maryland and in the District of Columbia. MHG celebrates over 45 years of successful projects in the private and public sectors including urban designs, streetscapes, commercial, multi-use, institutional, parks and recreation and high-end residential homes.
We are seeking an entry or intermediate-level, creative, self-motivated Environmental Analyst with a practical understanding of Natural Resource Management and/or Forest Conservation and Land Planning to join our Landscape Architecture and Land Planning Section.
The ideal candidate will have experience and/or education in the following areas:
Natural Resource Mapping
Forest Conservation Planning
Tree, Shrub, and Herbaceous Plant Identification (native and invasive species)
Tree and Soil Protection
Wetland Delineation
Conceptual and Detail Site Planning
Candidates should possess:
Strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills.
An understanding of environmental planning, land use, zoning, transportation planning, urban planning, environmental review and entitlement work such as, housing, community development, historic preservation, parks and open space planning, water resource planning and environmental planning.
Experience in preparing and processing zoning and development applications that comply with various Federal, State, and local regulations including associated coordination with agencies and other interested parties is desirable.
Ability to conduct field investigations and produce technical reports of the natural environment sometimes in difficult environments (forests, steep terrain, variable soils, and wetlands) and weather conditions
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD
Willingness and desire to learn and perform other related duties as assigned.
An understanding of forest conservation, natural resource mapping and wetland ecology preferred or an interest and willingness to learn and pursue additional certification.
Applicants should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Forest Conservation Management, Environmental Planning, Arboriculture, Landscape Architecture, Forestry, or an equivalent degree.
