Meet the Speakers:
Lynn is a degreed Horticulturist with over 37 years of experience studying Buxus. He is the Author of three books and dozens of technical boxwood articles. He lectures nationally and internationally to professional audiences on a wide variety of boxwood topics.
For thousands of years, boxwood has been prominently featured in private and public gardens. Yet, accurate and detailed information to make appropriate professional decisions remains elusive and vague. In this informative and fun session, all the major horticultural considerations, pests, diseases, abiotic concerns, landscape use, site conditions, recommended cultivars, and much more, which impact boxwood, are presented.
Kirk is recognized as a member of the International Garden Communicator’s Hall of Fame. As a ‘green Achiever,’ Kirk has won several landscape design awards. In the US and Canada, he has delivered hundreds of keynote addresses, guest lectures, teaching symposia and certified instruction over the past 25 years. Kirk will interpret Frederick Law Olmsted in character as the illustrious “Founder of Landscape Architecture”

Frank is the Founder & Executive Chairman of Chicago-based Mariani Premier Group.
He took the helm in 1973 as President of the company founded in 1958 by his father, Vito Mariani, Sr. What began as a small firm working primarily on Chicago’s north shore has become one of the largest privately held landscaping companies in the US. Mariani has grown into an 800+ employee operation that specializes in high-end residential landscape design, construction and maintenance across Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and beyond.
Over the past 3 years with his team, he’s built the Mariani Premier Group into a family of eighteen businesses and counting. They are composed of the nation’s finest residential landscaping firms. Under Frank’s leadership, the company has received numerous awards for excellence in all aspects of landscaping. Frank’s personal honors and organizations he’s served are equally numerous, including Board of Directors for NALP and the Mid-America Horticultural Trade Show; past President of the ILCA and their Man of the Year in 1994; inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame; and he continues to serve on the boards of numerous local businesses and charities.
