Dear friends and colleagues,
Summer is quickly ending, which means another school year is approaching. We are lucky to have two great universities which have Landscape Architecture programs, University of Maryland, and Morgan State University. With that, I am excited to announce and welcome our incoming President, Sarah Trautvetter, Associate Professor at Morgan State. She will bring a new perspective from the academic realm of the profession and be able to forge closer relationships between the students, staff, and professionals within our membership. I look forward to her leadership beginning this fall. There are many benefits of membership, especially for students. You may already know this, but as a quick refresher, if you are an undergraduate or graduate student you qualify for free membership. You can also join your local student version of ASLA, or SASLA where each school elects similar board members as Maryland ASLA. You get access to events, awards programs, educational opportunities, the monthly LAM publication, and access to networking opportunities within the industry. Look at the resources below for a more detailed view of the benefits of student membership. Good luck to the new school year and enjoy the last few days of summer.
Best,
Joe Ignatius PLA, ASLA, LEED Green Associate
MDASLA President 2021-2023
