President's Letter: March 2023

Happy Almost Spring everyone!

Lots are going on again this month! I first want to thank everyone who submitted for the awards program! We received over 25 submissions this year – the most since before 2020! We will be notifying the applicants soon when the results come in. We are excited to be able to announce the location and date of the Gala this year at the Winslow in Baltimore, Maryland! It should be a great time and be sure to get your tickets early, while they are still Early Bird pricing! We are hoping to announce our Keynote very soon!

Keeping with the busy spring, earlier this month, the Chapter and our lobbyist worked with National to form a strategy for our licensure sunset bill, a process each profession has to go through every 10 years. We sent letters to the senate committee members, and I testified at the hearing on March 3rd. We are anticipating no issues with getting our licensure renewed, but we would like our members to take action and notify your local representatives of the importance of licensure. There is a link below on how to do so. We look forward to seeing this bill swiftly passed and allow us to continue to be licensed for another 10 years.

As the spring continues please continue to go through our website and check your emails regularly for lots of exciting events, CEU opportunities and so much more!

See you all soon,

Joe Ignatius, PLA, ASLA

Maryland President, 2021-2023
